In the night of day 9 of June of this year, a fire destroyed a deposit of chemical products located in the quarter of Amaro Saint, south zone of São Paulo. In 2002, the fire reached deposit of eletroeletrônicos materials in the city of Barueri, an area of 12.700 square meters. In the previous year, two firemen had died in the combat to the flames of an incident that happened in Is Bernardo of the Field, inside of a deposit of nourishing products, that ruined an area of 23.482 square meters. These and other episodes show the vulnerability of these constructions and stand out the importance of a project of prevention and combat the fires for the deposits of products. In 2002, a group of officers of the Body of Firemen was in the United States, the city of New Jersey, to visit constructions destined the deposits and the headquarters of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), in the city of Boston, an important landmark for the improvement of knowledge already gotten and the progress in the studies on this subject, that had resulted in the expressiva contribution for finishing of the works of elaboration of the State Decree nº 46076/01. Such legal tool today presents a set of requirements of security against fires for deposits in accordance with international standards and that in determined situations he is more restrictive, thus showing to the advance of the State of São Paulo in the questions of prevention and combat the fires. This regulation classifies the constructions for occupation, area, height and risk, I contend necessary requirements for each one of them, the deposits are a group inside of this classification. Generally, the places for storage of products are chosen taking in account the operational aspects of use, the easiness in the accesses to the escape routes and the estacionamentos of viaturas for combat the fires. Another important point is the ventilation, that influences directly in the development of a fire and for consequence in the movement of smoke, in this in case that it is essential that it has removal of the construction in relation to the neighbors, therefore the fires if they characterize for severity and the more moved away, lesser will be the probability of propagation of the fire between the building.
